• 9N-ABQ de Havilland Canada Inc., Downsview, ON. Rolled out date 29-Nov-1979. First flight 29-Nov-1979.

• 9N-ABQ Delivered to Royal Nepal Airlines, 12-Dec-1979.

• 9N-ABQ Leased to Tara Air, Kathmandu, Nepal, 03-Jan-2012.

Note: Reported as remaining idle for many years before being rebuilt and acquired by Tara Air in 2012.

The aircraft was given a complete overhaul, carried out by a team of foreign and Tara Air’s own engineers and technicians in Tara Air’s own hangar as per the standards set by CAAN and ICAO. The aircraft had been grounded for almost a decade prior to the overhaul. The aircraft made a successful test flight on 10 May 2012.

Accident, Jomson, Nepal, 19-Aug-2012. Aircraft left runway following a nosewheel collapse before take-off. Aircraft recovered and was repaired.

Accident: Jufal of Dolpa Nepal, 21 September 2012. Enroute from Jufal of Dolpa to Nepalgunj the aircraft crashed on the runway. Though the airplane sustained minor damage, all 7 crew members and passengers remained safe and unhurt. The aircraft was taking off when the left-hand wing entangled with the wire fence of the aerodrome. The take-off was rejected, the aircraft came to a stop about 50 meters off the runway contacting rocks. No injuries occurred, the aircraft however received substantial damage to its left-hand wing, left hand engine and left-hand main gear.

Note: The aircraft has been rebuilt following the incident that occurred in Sep-2012, It has zero time wings, engines and gear, and is available for $3.5 million USD via Aircraft Canada.

Flew Dubrovnik - Altenrhein / Saint Gallen for overhaul and refurbishment completing its delivery flight which began in Kathmandu, Nepal on 18-Feb-2016.

Airworthiness date. 10-Feb-2016. Class Special Flight Permit. Category, Ferry flights. Operate in excess of maximum weight.

Flew 01/03-Oct-2016 Altenrhein-Saint Gallen - Nis - Hurghada – Muscat 04-Oct-2016 Muscat – Malé, to complete delivery.

• 8Q-ISB Aerostar Bravo Ltd., Singapore. (Island Aviation Seriesvices, Ltd.) Malé, Maldive Islands. Regd 24-Oct-2016.

Accident: Malé International Airport. 04-Oct-2017. A de Havilland Canada DHC-6 Twin Otter seaplane sustained substantial damage in a landing accident in the Hulhumalé Lagoon near Malé-Velana International Airport, Maldives. All occupants survived the accident. The aircraft was flying tourists from the Niyama Resort, Dhaalu atoll, back to Malé. It came to rest inverted, next to the Hulhumale - Hulhule Link Road which runs on the east side of the lagoon. Weather conditions in the area were unstable with cumulonimbus clouds and associated passing rain showers.
