SDR 11-Feb-1992.  At Los Angeles - before take-off, crew reported sparks coming from under co-pilots instrument panel. Investigation found wire in bundle running along right windshield post had chafed through on co-pilots instrument panel causing arcing. This wire is protected by 2amp circuit breaker. Damaged wire was repaired, and bundle protected with spiral wrap.

SDR 24-Oct-1993. During accomplishment of service bulletin nr 6/507, severe corrosion was found in the left aileron inboard and outboard, mass balance weights, the retention channels and covers. The aileron was repaired.

SDR 12-Sep-1994. During inspection maintenance crew found cracks in horizontal stabilizer upper surface skin doubler at centre hinge bracket (post mod 6/1615) and in skin under doubler. Repaired.

• N227SA Change of ownership to Scenic / Eagle Canyon Airlines, 1996.

Note SDR below showed the Air Carrier as MN Airlines LLC,. which operated as Sun Country Airlines.

SDR 30-Mar-1997. Crew smelled and saw light smoke in cockpit shortly after take-off from North Las Vegas  Aircraft made emergency landing at las. Maintenance personnel found flight compartment cooling fans switch/breaker 'on' and co-pilots fan blades lodged against ceiling panel. Fan motor overheated causing heat damage to plastic fan housing. Fan assembly was replaced. (M)

SDR 03-Jun-1998. During scheduled inspection, found engine bleed air duct clamp threaded stud had gouged a hole in rt nacelle inboard inner skin section. Maintenance removed and replaced skin section with identical piece.

SDR 13-Feb-2000. Pilot reported after take-off that aircraft suddenly yawed to the right and required nearly full left rudder to compensate. Maintenance personnel had repaired rudder geared tab gearbox previous to this flight. After gearbox was completely disassembled, inspected, reassembled, and reinstalled in the aircraft, the aircraft test flew successfully. Apparently, the gearbox repair and/or installation were done incorrectly the first time. Dhc-6 maintenance manual does not contain procedures for installing the gearbox, and the adjustment/test procedures are made confusing by a note that specifies that if the rudder geared tab is neutral with the rudder neutral no other checks are necessary. SDR 30-Jun-2001. Approximately 5 minutes from landing number 1 oil pressure was noted at 15 psi with no caution light. However, the engine was secured, and single engine landing performed.

Incident. 13-Feb-2002. The aircraft returned to North Las Vegas shortly after departure because of unspecified control problems. During the investigation of the problem it was found that during scheduled EMMA inspection on 02/10/2000 it was discovered rudder gear tab box mechanism had excessive back lash. Records show replaced gear and reinstalled gear box. This was a RII inspection although no RII inspection sheet was used. Proper maintenance documents were used.

SDR 12-Feb-2003. During scheduled inspection maintenance personnel found right elevator outboard hinge plate loose with rivets (working)at attachment to outboard stabilizer rib. Upon disassembly for repair. Hinge plate bracket was found cracked and broken away from forward extension approximately 5 inches from aft end of bracket. Oversize cherry max rivets have previously been installed in this area attachment to rib.

SDR 16-Mar-2012. Pilot reported on landing that nose wheel steering was at full left deflection. Maintenance inspected aircraft and found nose wheel centring pin stuck in the up position. Cause was excessive paint. Removed paint, operationally checked nose wheel steering and no fault was found. Note: this aircraft had a complete painting 17 flights previously with no discrepancy. a post paint inspection was performed at that time; this item is not part of that inspection.
