Accident Pelly Bay, NU. 23-Jul-1998. It was initially reported that the aircraft was landing on an unprepared landing area 131 miles south of Pelly Bay on a mineral expedition and that during the roll-out, the nose gear broke off at the fork, disabling the a/c  and that the company sent an AME with replacement parts to the site to repair the nosegear and inspect the a/c. Subsequently TSB reported that the accident occurred on takeoff, not on roll-out as previously reported. During the takeoff roll, the wind apparently shifted and became more of a cross-wind, which made control of the aircraft over the uneven tundra very difficult. The crew elected to abort the take off and turned to the right to avoid some rocks, which resulted in the nosewheel striking a small polygon crack, shearing off the nose gear at the fork. The damage was to the nose cone, left wing tip and one foot of the leading edge. There were no injuries. Weather was good VFR.
