Incident Rothera Station, Antarctica, 18-Nov-1981 Sustained major damage (again) when it was torn from its tie-down ropes and overturned during gale force winds at the Rothera Station. It was dismantled and shipped to the U.K. Aircraft was repaired at Fairoaks, UK using parts from MSN 546 VP-FAW which had sustained more significant damage in the same incident, and was deemed to be beyond economical repair. Following rebuilding, VP-FAZ returned to Service with BAS on 10-Oct-1983.
Accident: Fossil Bluff, Antarctica, 13-Feb-1985. Damaged nose oleo and airframe damaged in take-off where summer ice melt had caused an uneven surface, Temporary repairs carried out by a Canadian engineer in Antarctica which allowed it to be ferried back (with skis removed to reduce drag) to the UK. Arrived back in the UK 27-Mar-1987.
