Accident: Tau, Manua, American Samoa. 17-Jun-1988.The captain, who was flying the aircraft from the right seat, entered a right-hand traffic pattern for landing. A left quartering, 15 knot head wind was gusting across the airport. Upon turning to the final aproach the captain reduced the aircrafts engine power to the low speed range for the visual approach. As the aircraft neared the runway the rate of descent accelerated. The undercarriage collapsed on landing. Damaged beyond local repair. Two crew and 14 passengers uninjured.
