Air America Service history: The aircraft was taken over at West Palm Beach, FL, on 10-Jan-1972 for $435,000. The registration was requested on 10-Jan-1972 and the aircraft ferried from West Palm Beach, FL, to Bangkok, Thailand, by World Aviation commencing on 20-Jan-1972 and taking about 12 days. It was officially registered to Air America on 07-Feb-1972 It was painted dark blue with light blue line, red light on top of the fin. Special flight permits for overload flights for special purpose missions were requested on 30-Jan-1973. It was assigned to contract F04606-71-C- 0002 for use out of Vientiane 16-30-Apr-1973; at Udorn 18-Apr-1973 and 15-May-1973 and then assigned to contract F04606-71-C-0002 for use out of Udorn between 01 Nov-1973, 31-Dec-1973 and 01-Apr-1974 until 28 Apr-1974.

Accident Ban Na (LS-15), Laos. 04 Feb-1974.The aircraft was substantially damaged in the nose wheel mount area due to flying techniques and local weather conditions. It was repaired and returned to service on 17 Feb-1974.

Accident: Sala Phou, Koun (LS-260) in Laos. 28-Apr-1974 Ran off the end of the runway at Sala Phou Koum (LS-260), Laos, on 28 April 74, due to a pilot error, and substantially damaged; two passengers were injured, but there were no fatalities; the aircraft was destroyed beyond economic repair. The wreck was airlifted by Air America CH-47C Chinook” and then by Air America C-130E back to Udorn in April 1974. Deregistration was requested on 14 August 1974 and was formally cancelled on 22 August 1974 as “scrapped”.
